Fun White Values

Thanks to Laurie Daniel of the San Jose Mercury News for this great recommendation of our Evolution, 12th Edition!

"If you're a white-wine drinker, and you're tired of chardonnay and pinot grigio, consider some of the unconventional blends that are available. I've tasted a few good ones recently...

This is the 12th edition of the non-vintage Sokol Blosser Evolution, a blend of everything from chardonnay and pinot gris to Muller-Thurgau and sylvaner from Oregon. The wine is off-dry and floral, with aromas and flavors of lime, lime blossom and nectarine. It's a good companion to medium-spicy Asian food."

"Sokol Blosser Evolution, American white wine, Oregon - Move over Conundrum, the new androgynous white has arrived to take over. If you like Conundrum, or wines that have a soft lush character with no hard edges or structure, this is the wine for you. The look of it has some mist, bright silver yellow. The aroma is slightly herbal and tropical. The taste is explosive with warm, lush, soft fruit . . . it's interesting, and the microscopic mist of bubbles helps freshen the finish."

Wine advice: Crisp white wines are perfect for summer sipping

Thanks to Garry Scholz at the Idaho Statesman for this great review of Evolution, 12th Edition:

"Sokol Blosser Evolution NV ($20). I've tried more unusual whites this year than ever before. This one from Oregon is remarkable in that it is made from nine different white grape varieties.

I believe that most any spicy food would pair well with this white blend. Its nose of orange combined with its subdued crispness and slightly sweet taste would match perfectly with spicy Thai, Mexican, Indian and Cajun dishes."

Sid Cross, author and aquaintance of Alex Sokol Blosser, suggests this great pairing of Sokol Blosser's Evolution with fresh salmon in the latest issue of Western Living:

"...Evolution, which blends no fewer than nine varietals and is described by winemaker Russ Rosner as "like mixing nine different colours of paint and trying to end up with a rainbow." The allspice and touch of sweetness will sing with this salmon dish."
